Q) Why does this bonus to a Ranged attack have an exclamation point (!) next to it?
A) Normally when a card gains a bonus to an attack value, and the card is unable to attack at that Range (has 0 for an attack value at that Range), the bonus is ignored and the value is still 0. But, if there is an exclamation point next to the value in the bonus being given, the card then gains the ability to attack at that Range if it did not before. For an example, see the rules on the Nexan Shocker.

Q) What is a Flesh Assembly?
A) A Flesh Assembly is performed against a Creature/Guard that has just been Killed (even if a Parting Shot or Free-Hit Penalty is what killed it). This means the controller of the Creature/Guard/Device/Shield that has just Killed the enemy's Creature/Guard gains an amount of Flesh equal to the Killed Creature's/Guard's Creation Cost, instead of gaining just the amount of damage done to the Creature/Guard (the amount its Defense was reduced by), if the Creature/Guard was not Killed.

Q) How does Targeting with a Specific Creature/Guard Spell work?
A) For Spells that are Specific, it just means you must have that Creature/Guard in play, under your control and Enabled (Deployed or not doesn't matter). You don't have to Target the Specific 'User', for example you don't have to hit a MechaClown with its own Pie (meaning the Spell card, MechaClown's Cream Pie).

Q) What's the difference between the Graveyard and the Removed pile?
A) Cards that are Destroyed, or dealt lethal damage by Spells are placed in the Graveyard. Some cards (such as Agmethran Resurrection Disk) can remove cards from the Graveyard and put them into a player's hand, into play, or into the Removed pile. Cards in the Removed pile stay in that pile for the rest of the game.

Q) What are Counters and Tokens?
A) Generally little beads, such as those found in Mancala, or any other small piece used for counting or keeping track of something. If a card says, for example, "For every hit Vampire Scout deals while Engaged in Battle, it gains 1 Blood counter," (or more specifically, the card will say "Blood Counter (1)") that simply means that for every hit this Creature/Guard deals while Engaged in Battle, you keep track of one Blood counter on the Creature/Guard. If the Creature/Guard deals another hit, you add another Blood counter, so it now has two Blood counters. One way of keeping track of these counters is to place a small bead for every counter on the card. You can buy a tube of small beads (about 30 come in a small tube) at most game stores. Counters and Tokens do not go away until (1) the card they're on is Destroyed, Killed or Removed, or (2) a card gives instructions about the removal of certain Counters or Tokens.

Q) Do card-spawned Tokens (such as the Nexan Tokens created by the Nexan Creator) go to the Graveyard when Killed or Destroyed?
A) No. Tokens and Counters never go to the Graveyard or Removed piles for any reason, they are simply put back into a pile with the rest of your little glass/plastic beads (or whatever system you're using for Counters and Tokens) that are out of the game and meaningless to current gameplay. If for some reason a Token, such as the Nexan Token created by the Nexan Creator, is to be shuffled into your deck in some way, or put back into your hand, Remove it from the game instead. These weaker Creations simply cannot handle the magics involved, and are more difficult to track and remember for Mages, and therefore simply dissappear from existance in such situations. If a Token that counts as a Creature/Guard is Killed while Engaged in Battle, but does not have a Creation Cost assigned to it, no Flesh is gained from a Flesh Assembly performed against/on/to it.

Q) If a Device and Hex, or two or more Devices, or two or more Hexes (and so on) are Equipped to and/or Hexing a Creature/Guard, and both give bonuses (say both give +2/+0/+0/+0), do both of these bonuses 'stack'?
A) Yes, the total bonus in this case would be +4/+0/+0/+0.

Q) If a Device, Hex or ability is Equipped to/Hexing/affecting a Stack, Merge or Meld, and the Stack/Merge/Meld is Unstacked/Unmerged/Unmelded, what happens?
A) THe Hex/Device/ability/etc. is carried over to a Creature/Guard of the Hex's/Device's/ability's controller's choice, if it is still a legal User/Victim/Target.

Q) Specific 'Set' Device?
A) This is seen most prominently in the Samurai's Devices, it means that not only can the specific Samurai Creature/Guard weild the card, but so can Samurai Yojimbo, Samurai Gakushu, Samurai Daimyo, etc. Cards of the Samurai 'Set', meaning they have "Samurai" somewhere in their name.

Q) How exactly do Abiogenesis, the Biomancer's and Quantumancer's abilities work?
A) As far as anything in-game is concerned (Copyright, Dark Bond, Dismantle, Darwin Bomb, etc.), that card is whatever it was Biomanced/Quantumanced into, and not, in any way, what it orginally was. Though, when a card is Abiogenesized, it still retains its original name and some of its orginal attributes, but it is no longer a Device, or Targetable as such. Even a Device that was Quantumanced into another Device, then Abiogenesized, then Biomanced into another Creature/Guard, is that new Creature/Guard until it is Killed, Destroyed or Removed. Then it reverts back to whatever it was before being hit with any of the three Spells/abilities.

Q) Is there a shorter version of this game? Or a Tournament style of play?
A) As of Maelstrom, the only 'quick version' is to have everyone's Mage start with 50 HP, and every Mage-Life Bonus is 100% of your Mage's life added to your Flesh Pool, in Flesh. There is currently no official form of Tournament play, but there will be in the future (if you would like a form of tournament play, feel free to request it, if more requests for such are made, it will likely be made sooner).

Q) What if I still have a question, even after reading this entire rulebook?
A) The best thing to do would be to post it in the forums at http://www.MageWarfare.com/forum, if you don't want to register for the forum, you can e-mail us directly from the site. If you can't do either of these for whatever reason, contact someone that can, or even send snail mail to our P.O. Box listed on the site.
